Robotics team members and parents,

Our team always needs members who can manufacture custom parts for our robots.

PCC offers a manufacturing class to FIRST robotics students over the summer. This program will expose high school students (minimum age of 15 years old) involved in the international "FIRST" robotics competitions, to Portland Community College’s (PCC) Machine Manufacturing Technology (MMT) program. After this initial three and one half week training class, participants will be allowed to manufacture parts using PCC’s Machine Manufacturing Technology department and equipment for their robots through next years build season.

The only expense for participating students is possibly parking or transportation costs on and to PCC’s campus. This program waives about $700 in tuition and lab fees per student for two courses totaling seven college credits!

Initially, the are accepting up to two primary representative members from each team for the camp, up until May 15th. After May 15th we will open up the process to others that have applied as alternate attendees to fill the class. The class will be limited to 20 attendees for safety reasons.

Interested? The application is attached. Submit it fast so you get a spot!

Subject: 2012 PCC Machine Tech Robotics Shop Training Summer Camp Application

Hello FRC teams --

Our good friends at Portland Community College are offering the Machine Tech Summer Robotics camp again this year. Please note the dates below and that a student needs to be able to commit to the full 3 1/2 weeks. Minimum age for the camp is 15 years old. In the past there has been a waiting list to get in, so don't delay submitting your application. -- Details below.

Attached is the 2012 PCC Machine Tech Robotics Shop Training Summer Camp Application.

The camp will run from June 18th throught July 11th, from 9am -3:30 pm daily.

This is being sponsored jointly by the National Science Foundation, Intel, and Mentor Graphics.

The application process has been revised this year as PCC will now accept the first page of the application and then once notified, a student will be sent the final application paperwork. In the past, it was too confusing with parents trying to register their kids without going through the proper process so PCC hopes to improve this.
